Dear all,

This shows some of the good things that can be done with technology: https://nypost.com/video/drones-re-create-twin-towers-over-nyc-skyline-to-honor-9-11-victims/  Sorry this three minute video comes with a half minute of advertisements, but the content is worth waiting for.  The display was created using one drone for every victim of the 9/11 attack.

Very, very nice. Thank you, Brian.
I recall standing i deep admiration on top with my mother on her second visit to the US.
Years later, I wrote this poem, it's in one of my poetry books:

Don’t Forget

9/15/13; 5/15/14; 6/1/2014

Into massive openings –

one row of small fountains each --

pour streams of glistening water,

creating, like the Niagara,

an irresistible pull.

Relentlessly cascading

onto enormous platforms –

silver streams locked into one,

as if creating sheets of glass and steel.

Barely easing their descent,

they rush to further depths in their midst --

in search of the Towers’ feet.

 Soft clouds of mist

rise from each abyss,

spreading an uneven film

on the names of those who fell in September.

White roses here and there

marking birthdays that will never be again.

Off-course planes

to those on the ground --

not hearing the screams inside.

Massive bombs approaching,

mostly unseen to those in the Twins --

not suspecting the unfolding tragedy.

 They came from many lands,

the people in the Towers --

their work reaching around the globe.

One frantic call, one final note:

Good bye, my dear, good bye.

I must go now.

Down the stairs.

New Yorkers rushed in and up,

not knowing of the magnitude of harm --

mayhem beyond imagination --

attempting rescue where the finest barely could.

Their names reflecting ancestry and courage:

English, Italian, Polish, Jewish, Irish, German, Chinese.

Buried, all of them,

by the anger of the bombers --

flying to do them harm.

Not considering the hopes of these others,

they murdered in a misinterpretation of their faith.

This is our martyrs’ final resting place --

human beings, some not yet born,

having met their unwanted fate at terrorists’ hands.

Don’t forget them, America!

They died for you.

@Peter w. Petschauer

Brian,

2,977 lost their lives on 9/11. 1,609 of them left a spouse and at least one child. What stays with me is the grief of the surviving spouse and the loss of a parent for the kids. What also remains with me is how rare it is for the U S to have their land mass attacked, and that other nations more frequently are invaded by hostile forces.

Ken,

I was wondering if you ever heard of Cliodynamics? I recently came across this term and I believe it is very consistent with psycho history. This gentleman studies  complexity and the evolution of societies. I don’t think he talks about child rearing as Lloyd did, but I think he is onto something.

Apparently, in 2010, the journal nature asked for people to make some predictions about the future. Peter Turchin suggested that the United States will have a period of civil unrest by 2020. Since his prediction came true, Moorepeople are paying more attention to his theories. I thought you might find him interesting. I can’t seem to create a link for you, but Peter has many books through Amazon. Check out “end times.”.

Brian,

Thanks for your message. I have been familiar with Peter Turchin’s extraordinary innovations for years. I’ve never met him but both of us were faculty at the University of Connecticut. He was in biology and I in history and interdisciplinary studies. It might be worthwhile for you or someone write an article in the Psychohistory News on Turchin’s work or a panel on it for the annual conference. What Turchin accomplishes is beyond my competency and remote from my current projects. What do you think?

Ken,

This sounds like a promising idea for someone, but also outside my current interests.  It was Bill Argus who wrote to you about this, not me. :-)
