Query Contacts with Multiple Phone Number Formats

The client I’m helping implement a self-help IVR system for wishes to look up information on the calling customer, however their phone number data set is not in a standardized format.  Ex:

• (XXX) XXX-XXXX

• XXX-XXX-XXXX

 

My question is: when I’m running an API search on Contacts for phone numbers, is there a way to search multiple formats at once, or use wildcard characters to find all phone numbers matching any format?  Ex:

• Assuming that ‘%’ is a wildcard…

  • %XXX%XXX%XXXX

  • Would match on (XXX) XXX-XXXX and XXX-XXX-XXX

• Or, assuming ‘|’ stands for additional query search…

  • https://app.goclio.com/api/v2/contacts?query=(XXX) XXX-XXXX | XXX-XXX-XXXX

  • Would search for both phone number formats.

 

Worst case scenario is that I perform multiple API calls, combining results from all of them into a single result set which is certainly doable, but less than ideal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I heard back from Clio support and this is not functionality that the application supports.

My work around is simply to run the API calls for each different format and consolidate the results for processing.
