Word and/or Excel "plugin" to allow for editing/creation/saving of files directly into Clio

Hey all,

Not sure if this could be something someone might be interested in, but thought I'd float it out there.

Was thinking it might be useful to folks to have the ability to do a number of document editing and creation tasks from within Word and/or Excel and save the resulting file directly to a Clio Matter. 

Perhaps a 'plugin' could be developed to accomplish this?

USE CASE

-a Word doc that is already saved in a Clio Matter can be opened from within the local Word installation using this plugin

-edits are made

-a user can then save the edited Word doc directly TO the Clio Matter, skipping the currently necessary steps of local saving and uploading to Clio

USE CASE

-a new Excel spreadsheet is created locally

-a user can then save the final Excel sheet directly TO the Clio Matter, skipping the currently necessary steps of local saving and uploading to Clio

BONUS

-at the time of saving TO the Clio Matter, perhaps the user is then also prompted to add the time to it, and choose the appropriate Activity Description 

SUPER BONUS

-the plugin actually starts a time while the file is being created/edited, and that time is set as the default time entry, but can be overridden before saving

Just watched the video.  Great job on the chrome extension!
I'm in agreement on the gaps of folder management and templates via the api.
Clio's done a great job with the core API IMO but I too hope to see some material enhancements in the near future.

Dan, I've been thinking about doing this myself, it is possible via the API if someone were to develop a VSTO in C#. I think someone in this group has a C# client for Clio, so there's other active C# development with Clio. I'd be interested in helping creating this project if there's a collaborative effort somewhere. Maybe I can get on an existing GitHub project? If not, I can start something like this myself. I'd frequently be posting here because I'm new to Clio, and definitely new to Ruby on Rails.

I'd much rather do something like a Word plugin that only allows download/upload of Clio docs, and allow it to be used for free. I don't necessarily want the network storage drive for the firm, due to security purposes among employees that have computer access. AlphaDrive looks pretty cool though!
