I am so glad that I just found out about this website! My partner and
I just adopted a 3 year old pitbull from the shelter 3 months ago.
When we got her she was very calm and now she is exploding with energy
and really needs a place to run around. We were taking her to Fort
Greene in the mornings and at night and at first it was okay but she
just has such a difficult time following the rules in such a huge
space with so many dogs and so much to distract her. We opted to stop
taking her to the park and since then she has been sad but even more
hyper than before. We are desperately seeking an outlet for her
energy! I understand that there may not be a dog run in the Clinton
Hill/Fort Greene area for time and we may not even be in Brooklyn by
the time one is built but I was wondering what the soonest people
think there might be a dog park around here? Additionally, does
anyone have experience with the dog run in Bed Stuy, I know people say
it isn't the nicest area but it really doesn't seem like it could be
that bad especially during the day.
Thoughts? Advice?
Thanks so much!
Isaiah
look up "rainy day games" to play indoors with your dog or the toys
that take a lot of their energy to get the treat or their kibble out
of (as in no kibble in bowl, only in toy, if dog wants to eat, has to
bash toy around to get food) - look for the cube v the ball
try getting together with nearby dog owners to "run" the dogs in your
hallway or parkinglot (that's what i do but I am lucky to have 6 dogs
in the building including mine)
