If your Linux distribution does not provide a lmms package (or only an outdated one), you can still build LMMS from source. Visit the LMMS development wiki on GitHub for instructions on how to compile LMMS for Linux.

@POLO It could be that you have an older version of curl installed, or if you have the right version it is not being found in your search path ( I remember having such issues with a license on another Linux VST, iirc the author actually changed his code to suit a few of us that were complaining ).

4/ Then I restarted lmms from the last App image downloaded from the official website.
Note that during my effort to make it works I previously performed a full system update which is I guess always a good idea.

I have installed Vital in my Linux Ubuntu 20 computer. I have tried to load Vital via Carla. However, once I add the Vital plugin in the Carla rack, when I click the configuration button (the gearwheel icon), nothing happens, and LMMS crashes.

I was uninstalling wine, and I saw that it also uninstalled LMMS at the same time. Thinking it was just something weird that happened, I went and tried lmms - naturally, it didn't start, saying it was uninstalled. So I tried sudo apt-get install lmms, and it listed wine1.4 as a package to be installed.

Edit: My system is fully updated, and here's a picture of my terminal output when I try to install lmms. Note that all the other components, as listed by Uri, are installed completely:I also tried sudo apt-get -f install, sudo apt-get clean and sudo apt-get autoclean, and none of those helped.

LMMS supports the native Linux LADSPA plugin specification and the VST/VSTi standard for Windows plugins. (...) Like all other mechanisms for VST support in Linux LMMS depends on WINE to instantiate those plugins, and WINE's volatility makes it difficult to predict which plugins will run.
