Hi Friends,

They are working on structuring the course content for our juniors.

The main content change is expected in SCTIMST part.
For that they are asking for input from us.
The key points they expect from us are.

1. Are the clinical rotations useful in SCTIMST?
If no, they will plan for adding more courses in those slot.

2. Which all the subjects do you feel important?

3. Extra input if you have.

List of Mandatory Subjects in SCTIMST (As of now)

1.Medical Device Technology

2.Advanced Biomaterials

3.Critical care Instrumentation and therapeutic equipment

4.Hospital Management Systems

5.Quality Management in Healthcare

6.Patient Safety and Risk Management in hospitals

Please mail your opinions individually to me.
Forward this mail to our seniors also.

Clinical Rotations are extremely important if students take it seriously. Rarely, people in corporate world get such an exposure, its an added advantage.
Secondly, HMS does not add any value, one can also consider removing patient safety and risk management in hospital and can replace it with some design course.

Thanks

Hi friends,

My suggestions are as follows.

1. I my opinion, Clinical attachment is very important. (I completely agree with Sumit's comments).
2. Hospital management can be included as a module in Quality management in healthcare. ( A single subject which discusses the various quality standards, management practices and then hospital management)
3. Similarly, Patient safety & risk management and Critical care instrumentation can be merged to a single subject. (I'm not sure about the contents of these subjects at present; my opinion is based on what we were taught.)

In this way, the semester at SCTIMST would have 4 subjects plus clinical attachment, which seems reasonable and sufficient to me.

Thanks,

Akhil
