It only seemed right that the first person to light the Al Davis Memorial Torch was Hall of Fame coach John Madden. He kicked off the tradition during halftime against the Cleveland Browns on October 16, 2011.
It only seemed right that the first person to light the torch was John Madden. The Super Bowl-winning head coach was hired by Mr. Davis in the late 60s, and together the two accomplished several amazing feats together. Owner Mark Davis honored his father Al Davis in the final home game of the 2011 season by lighting the memorial torch.
It's an honor to light the torch, and for those who knew Mr. Davis personally, it's a reminder of all he meant to the organization, the fans, and the NFL community. Raiders legend Cliff Branch shared in 2015 what it means to him and the many others who have paid tribute.
The Original 1960 Raiderettes lit the torch ahead of the preseason Week 1 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings and the family of the late David Humm before the preseason Week 3 matchup against the New England Patriots.

Placing at least 100 torches in close proximity, at a depth of at least 200 below surface level in any biome, will start the Torch God mini-event. This will grant the Torch God's Favor, which will allow the player to automatically convert ordinary torches to one of the biome types. This can produce Desert, Jungle, Ice, Hallowed, Crimson, or Corrupt Torches in the respective biomes; it can also produce Bone Torches in the Dungeon, and Demon Torches in the Underworld.
Bone Torches are sold by the Skeleton Merchant for 1 each during the first half of every in-game minute (a real-world second), other times he sells ordinary Torches. They are used to craft Bone Campfires. Bone Torches regularly produce long-lasting sparks which can map out a fair distance below them.
Another way of acquiring Bone Torches is placing and immediately breaking Torches in the Dungeon with the Torch God's Favor. These can be used anywhere outside the Snow biome, Desert, Jungle, Corruption, Crimson, Hallow, Dungeon or Jungle Temple biomes for extra luck, and especially in the Underworld for increased fishing chances.
Demon Torches can be taken from the Ruined Houses in the Underworld, where they occur naturally. On PC, Console, Mobile, Old Chinese, tModLoader, and tModLoader Legacy, they can also be crafted by combining standard torches with Obsidian. They function identically to standard, colored and Ice Torches, except that they cycle smoothly between emitting red, purple, and blue light. They are used to craft Demon Campfires and Living Demon Fire Blocks.
These torches become available in Hardmode, and emit a bright green or yellow light, respectively. They are nearly unique in that they can be held or placed in liquids and still function normally there. They are crafted by combining standard Torches with Cursed Flames (Cursed Torches) or Ichor (Ichor Torches). They are used to craft Cursed Campfires and Ichor Campfires, respectively.
Desert Torches are crafted by combining standard torches with Hardened Sand Blocks, Hardened Crimsand Blocks, Hardened Ebonsand Blocks or Hardened Pearlsand Blocks. They are used to craft Desert Campfires.
Coral Torches are crafted by combining standard torches with Coral. The Coral Torch has a slightly different graphic to the rest of the colored torches. They can be placed in Water and still function normally there. They are used to craft Coral Campfires.
These torches become available in Hardmode. Hallowed Torches are crafted by combining standard torches with Pearlstone Blocks, Hardened Pearlsand Blocks or Pink Ice Blocks. They are used to craft Hallowed Campfires.
Marching AdventurerSeasonal SpiritEmoteCosmeticsPropsSeasonRealmHidden ForestLocationForest's BrookRelated SpiritsVisitsMarch 6, 2023 (SV#1)The Marching Adventurer is a Seasonal Spirit from the Season of Assembly who offers the Marching Expression. The Marching Adventurer is found in the Forest's Brook, on top of a hill across from the sheltered house inside a hill on the player's left when first entering the area. The collectibles offered by this Spirit are a Mask, a Hair, and a Torch Prop.
The Marching Adventurer can be found in Forest's Brook, atop a hill and directly across from the gazebo where the Blushing Prospector can be found. This Spirit has a standard memory with 7 memory fragments and a 15-minute overall time limit.
As their memory unfolds, the Marching Adventurer and the Scaredy Cadet can be seen walking along the hills above the brook. The Marching Adventurer spots a stick that looks just right, and continues to carry it throughout the rest of the memory. The Adventurer and the Cadet soon come across a large, fallen log connecting two hills like a bridge. The Adventurer decides to march across the log, but the Cadet is frightened by the idea of walking across the log and soon finds a quicker, alternative route to cross the gap between the two hills. The Adventurer and the Cadet meet up again towards the end of the memory.
At the end of the memory, the Adventurer finds the Cadet on a ledge a little higher up. The Cadet joins the Adventurer on the lower level, and the Marching Adventurer shows the Cadet how to march in time and with confidence, keeping their eyes forward.

# Addition of a random strobe feature.
# Cap end magnet a little weak, but OK if on a flat ferrous surface covering the whole of the cap area.
# Magnetic charger easily knocked off - perhaps USB connection would be more secure and faster charging.
# I needed only the torch. I will never use the headgear, which ideally could be an optional extra.
Never the less the torch as it is is superb in design, quality and ease of use.
Torch Direct knowledgeable advice and friendly personal service was as usual excellent. I would never bother to deal with another supplier.
Pocket sized torch, running on common AA, delivering strong beams of white and blue light at a touch of a button.
Seems to be sturdy enough, I definitely expect it to last.
Not on the cheap side, good value for money, though.
I've owned four of these torches for a few years now, buying them one at a time, not all at once. I wouldn't have bought them one at a time, with several years between two of them, if I didn't think they were excellent. One lives in my shoulder-bag, another in my motor-cycling jacket, the third in one part of my hobbies room, and the fourth in another part of my hobbies room. They are small and powerful, ideal for looking under wardrobes for small items that I've dropped, looking into motor-cycle fuel tanks to get some idea of how far I can go before a stop for petrol becomes necessary, and even for looking into my mouth while using the bathroom mirror to do the throat-swabbing part of Covid tests. As they are not at all heavy they can be used for reading books, maps, etc. in the dark. The body looks and feels strong enough to be run over by an articulated tank transporter without being damaged.
