I am looking at the squid monitoring page linked via the mrtg homepage

I wish to use the patch file

but am not sure how to apply it

I tried using the mrtg.pl before but when I run it it doesnt like some of
the commands in the mrtg.cfg like RunAsDaemon and others

I have at the moment mrtg-2.8.12 installed

This is what I have tried so far

joe'd the patch file and changed the paths

=

*** /usr/src/mrtg-2.8.12/run/mrtg.orig Wed Feb 11 14:10:45 1998
--- /usr/src/mrtg-2.8.12/run/mrtg

*** /usr/src/mrtg-2.8.12/src/rateup.c.orig Fri Oct 24 06:30:12 1997
--- /usr/src/mrtg-2.8.12/src/rateup.c

but when I do

from
hercules:/usr/src/mrtg-2.8.12# patch -i mrtg-squid-patch.txt
can't find file to patch at input line 3
Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:
--------------------------
|*** /usr/src/mrtg-2.8.12/run/mrtg.orig Wed Feb 11 14:10:45 1998
|--- /usr/src/mrtg-2.8.12/run/mrtg Mon Feb 23 15:18:17 1998
--------------------------
File to patch:

??

I have even gone into the run directory and copied the mrtg to mrtg.orig so
that both files exist

need help
cheers

Current versions of MRTG does not need to be patched. Instead you load
the Squid MIB definition from the MRTG configuration file.
