NET is a library with code and tools that allow to create and use Windows software. As long as you as you see a .NET file then be sure it is a programming file mainly for the Windows OS. Note: these packages are usually already installed on Windows 7 and above. Manual one-off installation may be needed when using the ZIP distribution or the MSI installer, especially on Windows Vista and XP.
