Dear Colleagues
You may  know of the event below.

I was at a Royal Society Medicine event on Climate Change last night organised by their Conflict and Catastrophes Division and before the meeting was speaking to Prof Hugh Montgomery about the BMA event. He is co-founder of the Climate and Health Council  nd is doing an immense ammount of work in this area. Although it is oversubscribed, they are hoping to get more in and he mentionned that they hadn't been able to engage with the Trade Unions and wanted to. I recall that there were reps from Trade Unions at the Climate what next conference, so posting this in the hope that this can be facilitated.

Kind regards

Judith

Health & Security Perspectives of Climate Change

How to secure our future wellbeing

Monday 17th October 2011
BMA House, London

This high-level briefing on climate change is being hosted by the BMJ, Climate and Health Council and senior military figures

It will focus on the implications of climate change for human health and security, and discover why NATO security chiefs and UK healthcare professionals perceive this to be a real and immediate threat.

An editorial published in the BMJ earlier this year summarises some of the issues.

With presentations from key figures in healthcare, security and business, there will also be panel and audience discussion aimed at achieving a consensus across sectors on the need for action by governments and business.

More details about the event are available at: http://climatechange.bmj.com/

To apply for a place or get further information please email climat...@bmj.com before the 1st August 2011 providing your name, job title, organisation and email address.

Hope it went well and sorry I wasn’t around to try to find the TU reps at the Climate What Next event.

Just back from India and grinding thro the emails...
