Hi everyone,

thank you very much for your interest in the Youth Climate Solidarity Project. It is great to see that so many people like the idea and are willing to put their energy into it! After all, facing the challenge of the climate crisis and working together as one human family is something we all dream of, don't we?

To move ahead with this, I would like to propose a two-level approach:

On the first level are the participants, those persons that have their "buddy" on the other side of the world and can start interacting and exchanging emails, photos, etc. as soon as we link them up.

Those of you who would simply like to participate, please fill it out.

On the second level are the facilitators. Those of us who have regular internet access (and maybe a digital camera) and would like to help youth around us get and stay in touch with their climate buddies in other countries. I imagine that this function is much more relevant in poorer countries where internet access can be a problem. But also in the other countries it would be best if each participant had a facilitator responsible for him who he can turn to with questions or who will make suggestions on what to talk about or activities to do together.

Some of the facilitators will also serve as project team. We will manage the whole thing, come up with suggestions for activities, questions, partnerships, rules, etc. I am sure that we are embarking on a continuous learning process and we will need a team of people who will draw conclusions from lessons learned and give impulses into the network so it can grow and flourish.

For those interested in helping to define and manage the project, I have created a google group where we can discuss how to proceed: http://groups.google.com/group/climatesolidarity
I am also looking forward to your comments there!

I think that we will probably document our progress on a wiki which for the meantime can be my wiki site where I have already made a page for the project: http://kjells.a.wiki-site.com/index.php/Youth_Climate_Solidarity_Project

I think the priority now should be to recruit people and match them so they can start interacting. I think that once we have buddies interacting, policies, rules, activities etc. will pop up as topics to deal with. If you have any comments about the forms, please let me know as soon as possible, because they have already gone live.

So, I would like to invite all of you to pick the level of involvement you would like to have and then let's go! :)

best wishes from Mexico,

Kjell

P.S.: Don't be shy to invite further friends and contacts to join us!
