Dear Dr. Reynolds,

It is my pleasure to read your comments on GLOF inventory in Nepal and Bhutan in e-conferences. As you know, glaciers in Himalayan range are one of biggest continental glaciers on the world and important water resources for lower land in Asia. Many researchers have studied glacier variations in the Himalayan region and they mainly focus on specific glaciers and its variations, but they have paid no attention to GLOF in Himalayan region as transboundary disasters.  GLOF inventory for Nepal and Bhutan published ICIMOD in 2001 was notable achievements in this field. It not only gave audiences baseline information and a broad picture but also this effort is significant to monitoring glaciers and its activities both in Nepal and Bhutan and transboundary area. Although there were some limitations in the study, we can make the most of these basic information and efforts from these two volumes to refine and update our knowledge about glaciers, glaciers variations, its impacts on downstreams using new data and technology and scientific ways, instead of depreciating efforts from other scientific communities based on individual case study.

Thanks for your attention.

With regards,
