Dear All,
As local communities, the key questions for which answers are sought are;
1) Is there a more dependable way of predicting weather patterns in every cropping season
We have long term forecasts and in India on overall monsoon conditions but very little is known about micro-climate and specific periods - this will aid in taking practical action in cultivation;
2) How does one monitor gradual change which might mean that change of cropping patterns will become inevitable?
3) Is there a way to understand the extreme events especially cloud-bursts, hailstroms which seem to hover around with uncharacteristic periodicities and destroy entire horticultural crops if not entire settlements?
As far as we are concerned we feel we are all groping and sinking carbon elsewhere or even in nearby areas do not seem to change this as there are excellent examples of revegetation in Uttarakhand and still in those very same areas such uncertainities loom.
regards,
Sreedhar
