Dear Colleagues,
I fully agree with the concerns raised by Dr. Jodha, Gian and Vimal during last couple of sessions. When we talk about sustainability we can't ignore the resource realities. Without having proper scientific and factual evidence we can't say anything in hunch.
In this context I am just throwing an idea of Individual/national environmental happiness (or ecological). In which we can add all the environmental goods and services, opportunities, technological advancements and other elements/means of environmental sustainability and deduct environmental degradation, and investment needed to prevent those hazards. After getting some information from this we can divide it with ecological footprint and later on it can be treated with the GDP/PCI.
I am quite sure that this kind of treatment will be a very new and realistic approach to identify the resource realities and prioritize environmental issues not only for present generation for future generation as well. This idea is at very beginning phase and can be preceded further after getting consensus from discussants of this forum.
Your input to further the cause will be highly appreciated.
Best, Tek Mahat, Nepal
