Dear Climate Action supporters

It has been a while since we've communicated with you; maybe you have been working from home and wrangling children doing school work, doing more gardening and cake baking, and worrying about how we are going to get out of this in ways that will make for a climate-safe, people-supporting Tasmania. Here are some sources of action and inspiration.

1.First 'Thriving Tasmania' an event that gives a voice to your hopes. It is hosted by the Tasmanian Way; the event is free but you need to register :

On behalf of the Tasmanian Way, we invite you to a virtual conversation to reflect on what Covid-19 has shown us and what is important for you to emerge and thrive.

This conversation, held over two discrete events using the Zoom platform, is open to people from all ages and backgrounds.

The event is free but registration is essential. Please register for the session time that best suits you at www.tasmanianway.org/thrivingtasmania.

Option 1: Monday 29 June at 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm
Option 2: Thursday 9 July at 10.00 am to Noon

About Tasmanian Way:

The Tasmanian Way brings together Tasmanians to inspire a whole-of-Tasmania approach to reduce emissions, build resilience and transition to a sustainable way of doing things for the health, wellbeing and prosperity of all Tasmanians. The Tasmanian Way is auspiced by Tasmanian Leaders Inc to move forward our shared goal to invigorate socio-economic vibrancy.

Background to the event:

COVID-19 has disrupted our way of life, forced rapid change and new ways of doing things. We have a choice: to go back to ‘business as usual’ or to boldly create a stronger, thriving Tasmania. 72% of Tasmanians have identified that they want a different Tasmania to emerge from the current crisis[1].

Forum Hosts
The Tasmanian Way with Disruptive Co. and the Wellbeing Hub will be hosting this event with the support of Tasmanian Leaders.

2. Beyond Zero Emissions 'The Million Jobs' plan
This will be launched nationally at 10.30 am June 29.

3. For everyone who has been wanting to find a way to contribute to the Black Lives Matter movement, especially in Australia, here is a really practical support idea. Seed Mob is the indigenous youth arm of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. They are campaigning against fracking in the Northern Territory. Please make a donation, big or small, to help both climate action and young and old in indigenous communities in NT.
