An interesting opportunity to apply for working with us in the Barcelona International University (UIC Barcelona) - research institute Just and Resilient Carbon Neutral Places.
The summary for a postdoctoral fellowship for 3 years is as follows:
1. Deadline: November 4, 2025.
2. Eligibility requirements:
a) Hold a PhD degree on urban sustainability or resilience and have a minimum of two years of experience after the award of the PhD (better if 5).
b) track record of at least 5 (preferred 10) scientific publications in international leading journals with impact factors, among other publications.
c) experience in more than one competitive research project as WP/task leader (Horizon Europe or similar) and preferred if the applicant has been writing different proposals
d) preferred if having Spanish as a second working language
3. Expected Research background:
The
applicant should have worked and will be working on some climate resilience-related topic (excluding technological hazards,
earthquakes and post-disaster recovery, since the hosting centre is
focused on climate resilience challenges, from carbon neutrality to
climate resilience planning and governance in European cities). We're
open to accepting candidates working at the interface between
regenerative development (Communities, design) and resilience, too.
What we offer
4. By joining our team, you will be: included in an international network of partners and research activities (opportunity to co-lead and lead Special Issues, workshops organisation, projects proposals preparation). There are teaching opportunities (seminars or courses within the Int. Msc Degree in Urban Resilience) and also spaces for creating new capacity buildings or courses through the new research Institute on Just and Resilient Carbon Neutral Places.
5. Financial allocation:
The salary is competite and variable depending on the researcher performances: it consists of a baseline gross annual salary for the contract (which will be €29,397 - aprox net
€1.900 after taxes) and an additional optional bonuses corresponding to the 20% of the total awarded competitite projects' budget that the postdoc may obtain (i.e. the Postdoc winning an European research project which WP is €
150.000 or
€
300.000, there will be a bonus of
€
30.000 or
€
60.000 for the Postdoc).
6. Work flexibility: the researcher should be working from Barcelona from September to May (3 times per week we work from the office, other days remotely) and from May to September, freedom to work remotely from anywhere. These working rhythms can vary depending on projects and team decisions over time.
