Dear Colleagues,
I would like to inform you that the abstract submission for the Regional Mountain Conference 2026 (https://rmc2026.my-event-manager.org/) is open until 05 February 2026.
Researchers from all disciplines are warmly invited to contribute.
The #RMC2026 builds on the experience of the International Mountain Conference (IMC) series and provides a forum for scientific exchange with a regional focus. The 2026 conference will focus on the European Alps, a region strongly affected by climate change and characterized by diverse environmental, social, and economic dynamics. The conference program includes a focused selection of sessions and workshops addressing a broad range of topics relevant to the Alpine region and its surroundings. These include natural hazards, forests and biodiversity, farming systems, tourism, land use and conservation, and governance-related questions, all of which are highly relevant in the context of climate change and resilience.
The Coupled Human and Landscape Systems: Risk & Resilience (CHLS) group from the University of Innsbruck and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research (ÖAW IGF) are hosting several sessions:
· Navigating Land Use Competition and Systemic Risks in Mountain Regions, organized by Mayer, Andreas; Keiler, Margreth; Posch, Eva; Schneiderbauer, Stefan; and Fontanella, Pisa Paola
· Participation, Power and Justice in Hazard and Climate Risk Research, organized by Posch, Eva; Pedoth, Lydia; Polderman, Annemarie; and McGlade, Katriona
· Bridging science and practice in mountain hazard risk management, organized by Keiler, Margreth; Gallmetzer, Willigis; Walter, Gebhard; and Fuchs, Sven
· Mountain hazards: understanding key risk drivers beyond climate change, organized by Fuchs, Sven; Keiler, Margreth; Mayer, Andreas; Polderman, Annemarie; Schlögel, Matthias
The conference will take place from 05 - 08 July 2026 in Obergurgl, Tyrol (Austria). We encourage interested colleagues to consider submitting an abstract to one of these sessions.
Best wishes,
Andreas Mayer
