Dear colleagues,
I am excited to share the first announcement of the International Climate Resilience Conference (iCARE2027), to be held from 31 March to 02 April 2027 at LMU Munich, Germany (www.climateresilience.info).
This is the second iCARE conference following the outstanding success of the inaugural International Climate Resilience Conference in October 2025 (iCARE2025). While climate change discourse has long been dominated by narratives of risk, vulnerability, and loss, growing evidence demonstrates the remarkable capacity of coupled human, social and ecological systems to adapt, innovate, and thrive under changing environmental conditions. iCARE 2027 aims to shift the focus toward these positive dimensions by highlighting successful resilience-building efforts, transformative strategies, and actionable solutions across scales, sectors and systems. Within a broader resilience and human-nature coupled systems framework, the conference will also encourage dialogue on social-ecological resilience and strengthen synergies among multilateral environmental agreements and sustainable-development agendas.
The conference will feature a diverse set of thematic sessions covering key dimensions of climate resilience. Session proposals will be invited from leading experts as well as be selected from bottom-up volunteered proposals. Please get in contact by 23 August 2026 if you like to propose a session.
We plan to organize the conference only in person. Online participation is not considered. Sessions are expected to be confirmed and call-for-abstracts will be published in the second announcement expected in middle October 2026.
