Join the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Regional Information for Society (RIfS) Scientific Steering Group!

We are currently filling one off-cycle opening. This is the highest level coordinating body for RIfS. Please read more about the role of the SSG in the RIfS Science Plan.

Joining the SSG of a WCRP Core Project is a substantial service commitment. If you think you can help us with the task of building a community to address important regional climate information gaps, please read more about what we’re looking for, and nominate yourself here. Deadline September 15th, for term to start in 2026.

RIfS is a Core Project of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP).

RIfS seeks to understand, develop, and enhance the effective flow of relevant information among scientists, decision makers, and society to develop policy-relevant climate research. To achieve this, RIfS coordinates, facilitates, and implements targeted research on regional climate information, and develops connections with stakeholder communities to enhance the construction, communication, and adoption of climate information by society. 

RIfS also serves as the umbrella entity for two other projects: WCRP CORDEX (the Co-ordinated Experiment on Regional Downscaling [https://cordex.org/]) and the Global weather and climate Extremes Platform (GEP) [https://gep.wcrp-rifs.org/].
