Dear all,

I write on behalf of the Guest Editors of a special collection of papers to be published in the open-access journal Environmental Data Science, recently launched by Cambridge University Press.

The special collection on Environmental Informatics will be the first major 'issue' in the journal. In the call, we define Environmental Informatics as research that combines the environmental sciences with artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), data science, or statistics. Methods from these data-driven fields may be applied to address questions from the environmental sciences, and such questions may in turn stimulate methodical development that is tailored for environmental sciences and applicable for other applications.

The stated deadline for submissions is Friday 12 November, but we encourage you to contact e...@cambridge.org if you are interested and would like more time to submit.

We will publish articles submitted for the collection in a timely manner after they have passed through the peer review process. In other words, individual articles will be published as soon as possible after acceptance - to avoid delay in the dissemination of this important research - but all accepted articles will ultimately be presented together as a collection (or virtual 'issue') with an editorial. We hope that interested parties see this as a great opportunity to amplify their work, publishing it on an open access basis with a global university press that is investing at this important and growing interface.

Please do feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

Andrew Hyde (Commissioning Editor, Cambridge University Press) on behalf of
