Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the upcoming EXCLAIM Symposium, organized by ETH Zurich in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology (MeteoSwiss) and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), which will be held on June 2-4, 2025 in Zurich, Switzerland.

The symposium addresses the question Is AI the Future of Weather and Climate Modeling?” and focuses on the transformative potential of AI-based and physics-based models in advancing weather and climate prediction. Through in-depth discussion and analysis, we will examine the latest breakthroughs in numerical and AI-based modeling techniques, highlighting key trends, challenges, synergies and opportunities that are shaping the future of this field.

We are now accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentations. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your recent work and contribute to the ongoing discussions in our community. Early career researchers are particularly welcome.

Key details for abstract submission:

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: January 19, 2025
  • Format: Oral presentations and posters
  • Sessions:
    • Session A - Creating the foundations of AI-based modeling of weather and climate
    • Session B - Harnessing the power of AI in modeling weather and climate
    • Session C - Harnessing the power of physics-based modeling of weather and climate
    • Session D - Merging AI and physics-based modeling of weather and climate

Please visit the symposium website to learn more about the event and about the details of the Call for abstracts: https://exclaim-symposium.ethz.ch/

We look forward to your participation and hope you will consider submitting an abstract. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the symposium!

Please share this invitation with anyone who may be interested.

Warm regards,
