========

Ecole polytechnique with BNP Paribas and Mercator Ocean are happy to announce to you the second edition of the Genhack challenge: Hackathon for Generative Modelling

 This is a challenge for students.

The task. This is an unsupervised learning problem: Given real data from ocean surface temperatures at selected latitude and longitude pairs over several decades that will act as a train dataset, the task is to develop a generative model that simulates synthetic ocean surface temperatures.

🗓 When? The competition will begin the 17th of November and will end the 17th of December.

🤖 How?

  • Kick-off presentation on the 17th of November with the different stakeholders from Mercator Ocean and Ecole Polytechnique.
  • Teams of 3-5 students (ideally from different universities and different countries).
  • Mentoring from academic experts and senior Data Scientists from BNP Paribas and Mercator Ocean.

🏆 Why to compete?

  • Monetary prize of 6000€, shared amongst the winning teams
  • Coaching and upskilling with academic experts in Generative Modelling
  • Meet-up with BNP Paribas teams during an exclusive event
  • Get the chance to meet and collaborate in an international framework

💎 The Sponsors?

  • École Polytechnique, with the chaire ‘Stress Test: RISK Management and Financial Steering’ led by Professor Emmanuel Gobet.
  • BNP Paribas, with  Antoine Bezat, Head of Stress Testing Methodologies and Models
  • Mercator Ocean, with Karina von Schuckmann, Oceanographer specialised in ocean climate monitoring and lead author of the IPCC working group 1 (The Physical Science basis) 6th assessment report.

Enrollment deadline is  the November 15th, 2022 at midnight Paris time (GMT+2).
