In March 2023, FHF held its inaugural in Abu Dhabi to raise awareness of the health challenges posed by global warming. Please have a look at the recap of the Summit or watch the recordings on our Global Summit website. A highlight of last year’s Summit was the announcement from HE Majid Al Suwaidi that last year’s COP28 would include the first-ever “Health Day” in the conference’s history.
Since then, FHF has accelerated our efforts to promote innovation and investment in climate-resilient health systems. We’re seeding a global communications campaign to make “health the human face of climate change”, help persuade new stakeholders to act against global warming, and mobilize resources for smart climate solutions to save lives today and in the future. At important events like the World Health Assembly and the Africa Climate Week and Summit we’ve convened insightful panelists for meaningful dialog geared toward action and innovation. And at the UNFCCC regional climate weeks around the world, we’ve been conducting “listening sessions” to better understand regional priorities and perspectives that inform our work.
Now that there is a broader awareness of the effects of global warming on human health, FHF wants to help move from awareness to action. Our Global Summit 2024 will be held in Baku. As we did in Abu Dhabi, we will devote the third day of the conference to providing a consensus set of recommendations to the COP29 Presidency, to help ensure that health stays front and center on the climate agenda. This year's Summit will feature speakers from the WHO, World Bank, and global health and climate professionals moving the climate health agenda forward, such as Dr. Vanessa Kerry!
