Gaslands Documentary:
Where: Sadleir House, 751 George Street N.
When: November 15th, 6:30-8:30 pm
Cost: $5 or pay what you can
Hydraulic Fracturing for Natural Gas (FRACKING), here in Canada and in the USA, is the newest way to overcome the shortage and rising price of conventional oil. We know well of another source of unconventional oil - the Alberta Tar Sands. Both of these sources of fossil fuels rev up our inability to control greenhouse gas emissions. Both require enormous amounts of water to process and both are creating enormous profits for Big Oil and Gas to perpetuate business as usual and ignore the impacts on the climate. Come and view this documentary to learn about the environmental and health hazards caused by fracking. This is a family friendly event.
Multiculturalism and Global Citizenship:
Where: Champlain Living Learning Commons-Trent University
When: November 16th, 4 pm
Cost: Free
Come join the first ever event hosted by the World Affairs Colloquium, Kawartha World Issues Centre, and Trent International Program together in the spirit of International Education Week! The event will be called Multiculturalism and Global Citizenship and will consist of a Cuban film "Los Dioses Rotos"(Broken Gods") followed by a discussion and question and answer session on multiculturalism with professor Emilio Barroso. The movie is an example of cultural integration within Cuba. Come one come all!
