COUNCIL OF CANADIANS - PETERBOROUGH AND KAWARTHAS
From our chapter meeting agenda sent to you on Oct. 26, our chapter has moved five
events into action. You are heartily invited to attend, and perhaps work on, all these
events.
1. The local PEOPLE'S ASSEMBLY ON CLIMATE JUSTICE planning meeting with our allied
organizations will occur:
this FRIDAY, the 12th, at Sadleir House
5 - 6:30 pm
2. YVES ENGLER will be at Sadleir House this Sunday, the 14th, 3-5 pm. Following his
analysis of Canadian foreign policy ("Black Book of Canadian Foreign Policy", "Canada
and Haiti", for example) we shall attempt to rewrite Canadian foreign policy - yes,
ambitiously.
3. The Peterborough homeless/hardest-to-serve crisis special meeting with all municipal
election candidates will be held:
Wednesday, November 17, 6 - 7:30 pm
at CITY HALL
(not at Our Space - a long story, but
probably a good one)
4. the dangers, particularly for subnational governments, in the current negotiations toward
a Canada-EU trade and investment agreement (CETA), for all municipal election candidates
and also the general public will be analysed on:
Tuesday, November 30, 7 pm
Lion's Centre
5. Jo's fabulous radio play, "the death of the God-Con Sumer" was broadcast on Oct 28, Trent
Radio, and it was a brilliant success. Stay tuned for follow-up activities. The audio file is on
the KWIC website.
