Girls Rock! DC Summer Showcases

Just your friendly neighborhood announcement of the summer showcases of Girls Rock! DC's two (count 'em, two) fantastic weeks of camp.

Each week, the girls come to camp, many never having picked up an instrument before

Once at camp, they form bands. Then they spend the rest of the week learning their instruments and working with their bands to write all new original songs, which they perform at week's end

And you can come see these performances, hear these songs, and be super-impressed (I always am). Awesome flyers will follow as soon as someone forwards them to me, but deets are below:

Showcase no 1, featuring girls age 8-12, will be held

 on July 12 3pm @ the Black Cat. doors at 2:30  (The Black Cat is at 1811 14th St. NW. Nearest Metro is U St. take the 13th st. exit)

Showcase no 2, featuring girls age 13-18, will be held
on July 19 11am @ 9:30 Club. Doors at 1030 (The 930 club is at 815 V St. NW. Nearest Metro is U St. Take the 10th St. exit).

Tix for both showcases are either $10 or $15 (sorry, I need to clarify this--let me know if it matters-I think confusion on this point is why I don't have flyers to send yet). Kids under 8 get in free

Hi all! huge thanks to all who came out last Saturday

The next (and final) showcase is this Saturday, 11 am, at the 930 club. You can see the debut of Anarchy, the band I've been coaching this week. Would love to see you!

In addition to coming to the showcase, we really need help with clean up/load out Friday night (6:45 pm onwards) and final load out for the summer (school to storage space) Sunday at noon. Let me know if you can help! Free beers if you can (in that I'll buy them)
