SimpleCarousel or another carousel with paging

Hi, I have a small image/video gallery that uses a carousel at the
bottom to display thumbnails, these have varying widths and my client
wants them to display in such manner that the whole "page" of
thumbnails fits the width of the stage, without any partially visible
thumbnails to the right. Furthermore, he wants the active thumbnail to
be centered in the middle of the carousel.

As a gallery, there will be prev/next controls and clicking on a
thumbnail will set it as active and show the full size image/video on
the screen.

My problem here is the pagination & centering stuff, I think I need a
script that dynamically adjusts the margins and paddings of the
thumbnails to distribute the available space evenly. I know that the
old clientcide 2.x SimpleCarousel can do that, but seems to be missing
from 3.x release, and the builder doesn't allow me to get the old one.

Aaron, I'm sure you have a lot of experience on this, and I hope your
advise about it.

Unfortunately, I have a bug w/ my builder so you can't build the older ones right now but I'm working on it...

I actually just pushed a new builder. For advise, I strongly suggest you post to the mootools user google group. That way whatever answers you find are there for others later.
