Hi there!

I already know where to get the old mootools 1.1 version of
Clientcide, but the question is ** which ** file should I download,
since there is no comments about it at the download page others than
"deprecated".

My intention is to use Clientcide with Joomla! 1.5, which so far,
doesn't support Mootools 1.2.

I'd also like to know which features of the current Clientcide version
are not available in that version.

That's a hard one to answer. Looking at the old svn repository, it looks like around r185 I start working on the 1.2 conversion:

If possible, you should use the 1.1 > 1.2 updater script (available as plugin in Joomla) and move to 1.2. The upgrader script has been available for many months now and is pretty stable.

Thanks a lot Mr. Newton, I had no idea about the joomla's mootools upgrader script. I'll google it a bit to find out more.

Finally I've found the solution is very simple: Just go to the
Joomla's plugin manager and publish the "System - Mootools upgrade"
plugin.

I hope this helps in case that someone else has the same problem.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. I don't use Joomla, so I couldn't say exactly how to turn it on...

I just forgot to mention that this plug is only available from Joomla 1.5.19 on, and it is intended to be used by developers as a preparation step to Joomla's 1.6 arrival, a change that might break backwards compatability with existing 1.5 templates and extensions.

Ok, I have Joomla 1.5.20 running with Mootools Core 1.2.4. So the
question is: which version of Mootools More and Clientcide should I
use? and where do I get them? (it's hard to find the links to those
old versions from MT & Clientcide's websites).

You can download both of them together on http://clientcide.com/js/

Note that you should run 1.2.5 not 1.2.4. The difference is really minor (we basically fixed a bug introduced by the latest firefox). There's no API change.

Ok gurus, this is my situation:

- The Mootools Upgrade plugin for Joomla! uses Core 1.2.4.

- It cannot be upgraded to 1.2.5 since it would break compatibility
with the system menu's core javascript.

- Joomla! only provides: Contents: Core, Browser, Array, Function,
Number, String, Hash, Event, Class, Class.Extras, Element, Element.
Event, Element.Style, Element.Dimensions, Selectors, DomReady, JSON,
Cookie, Swiff, Fx, Fx.CSS, Fx.Tween, Fx.Morph, Fx.Transitions,
Request, Request.HTML, Request.JSON, More, Fx.Elements, Fx.Accordion,
Fx.Scroll, Fx.Slide, Fx.SmoothScroll, Drag, Drag.Move, Class.Binds,
Element.Measure, Slider, Sortables, Color, Group, Hash.Cookie,
Scroller, Tips

- Currently, I'm able to inject the full More 1.2.5.1, apparently
with no problems (I haven't made extensive tests on this. I just say
that Firebug doesn't complain at all when doing this).

Please tell me which version of clientcide I could run under these
conditions, and how could I run the build.rb script to get it built.

I don't need the whole library, but I'd really like to have a full
built since client's requirements on the UI may vary, and it is very
likely that I will need to use more Clientcide classes.

The difference between 1.2.4 and 1.2.5 is a browser fix for Firefox. Other than that, they're the same.

Sorry, I thought you were referring to Core. More has many changes. More 1.2.5.1 only works with Core 1.2.5

So, what do I need to run clientcide??? Only Core 1.2.4???

Either 1.2.4 or 1.2.5 should work. If you enable the plugin in Joomla and then go download the clientcide modules you want, it should work. Note that if the clientcide modules depend on things in More that you already have you could exclude them specifically.

It's not ideal. Sorry that it's hard. This is a byproduct of Joomla's upgrade path.
