how to set max_memory_usage, if the clickhouse client is clickhouse-cpp

I am using clickhouse-cpp (https://github.com/artpaul/clickhouse-cpp) on the client side. If I want to set max_memory_usage, what is the best way to do that?

I have tried to set it in clickhouse-server/config.xml as well as clickhouse-client/config.xml, but don't see it takes into effect.

max_memory_usage must be set in users.xml
