The more I played it, the better it got. Amazing work once again! It would be really neat if this were to be remade into a full game like the original, but I know you guys are currently working on something new. Either way, I wish you guys the best!

This is actualy so weird, it feels like a dream. Dont get me wrong, the game is fantastic but my mind hasnt processed yet that "Celeste 2" just came out, and on the PICO-8. On the game itself it was great! The snowball mechanics were a little bit weird at times but it didnt inpact the game.

I'm not sure how @Scrubz got 16 strawberries, but I've tried getting as many strawberries as I could! The strawberry in the room with all the snowballs falling down was pretty tough. Usually I mistimed snowball jumps, and I didn't fall down at the correct time to bounce off the falling snowball, collect the strawberry, and wall-jump out.

This gives me the feeling of an old megaman game, including both the things I would expect people who like megaman to like and all the things I really don't like about megaman. That first area having a fake platform, for example, is inconsistent. Falling as scripted leads to a new area, but falling just a little earlier into the same pit leads to death. Then, the new area has 3 different ways that the player can go off the screen but 2 of them (the first 2 I tried by the way) go nowhere.

I find it bizarre that the game starts off with the ability to turn around and find a camper off-screen, as if exploration is encouraged, but then gates the player later at arbitrary screens. I tried looking for something to help get one of the strawberries in "level 1" and suddenly found myself in "level 2" with no way back.

One other thing, the wall jumping feels insubstantial. It feels less like the character jumping off of something and more like the character jumping in mid-air but with an unrelated requirement to be next to a wall.

Ha! I can't get past the first level in 3 minutes! You guys got some talent! Also, I am so proud of you Noel for making such a beautiful sequel to Celeste. I've been loving your work since I started Pico 8 and you've brought so much joy to me! Thank you for being awesome!

i got a ? for you are you going to make celeste 2 a real game? or an update for celeste i would realy love to see this as a game for switch and also i would love it since the pico-8 of celeste is in the actual game it would be nice to see a real celeste 2 for switch or pc but i love you game

I'd love to beat this, but i really wish the controls were remappable because as of right now atleast for me, the control mapping is quite bad in my opinion and it makes it really hard to enjoy the game

hey, without a video of a run its difficult to say what exactly you can do to improve, maybe try capturing a run and uploading it to youtube or something for some more detailed tips, but the biggest one is playing the practice mod if you havent tried that yet! you can find it here. have fun grinding and just ask if you have any more questions :)

Edit: if you search "celeste classic" on itch.io, you'll find a game called "CELESTE Classic" by Maddy Makes Games. It's a free old pico-8 version of "Celeste" where you can get a feel for what the game is like. Obviously, "Celeste" is a lot more polished.

how people can beat level 2 is beyond me. theres no clear way to go, all of the higher up walls are too high to grapple onto and IF your meant to wall jump on that tiny wall at the spikes of room 2 of level 2 then thats just ANNOYING

i mean i see the above list and i see stuff like milotic, staraptor, luxray, darmanitan... these things are already damn monsters! how much more OP do they have to be! mega quagsire seems sexy tho. i vouch for it!

I dunno why I came off as so grumpy, sorry. I must be easily triggered by Naruto. Perhaps I just remember when it was a good show. Dreams are super interesting to me, that's why I wanted to explore it as a topic (my perception of it at least) in Desolation.

I know you don't like Naruto (I don't either; I only read it to the end because I figured "I'm this far, might as well see it finish") but I always thought Tristan seemed a lot like Kabuto. They have a similar appearance, Tristan is a ninja, and neither of them really have a strong sense of self so they put on masks. Tristan was resented for being too good a trainer, and Kabuto was let go because he was too good a spy. It's honestly a scary coincidence they're so alike. o . o

Although Tristan is genuinely kind and only pretends to be a ninja in an act of self fulfillment, much like that of becoming a Gym Leader. I can see where the similarities come from but they're irrelevant when you consider Tristans purpose in the story - I use his character as a tool, unfortunately.

It's ok. I wanted to forget it existed at some point as well. It became that crappy and "wat." . But you're right, dreams and illusions are always an interesting thing, it's bound to make for a good story

im at celeste town, i have done everything, every sidequest, defeated gym leader, found all secrets in the graveyard, even found the swimmer's friend and gave the book to that lady, and yet that damn fisherman keeps saying "i need a strong trainer to give him my rod"

-In one of the houses on the lower right, turn off the guy's computer to get the person standing in front of the cave to leave. In the cave, interact with the braille tablets in this order: Center NE SW SE NW NE SW SE NW Center. This will open the next room in the cave, where there's a piece.

-There's a woman in the building where the town center is who complains about the wifi. Find a computer in the professor's lab that's slowing the wifi down and turn it off, then go back to her for a Revive. I think the computer was the one in the starter room.

-In one of the houses later on, there's a man who says he lost his Squirtle. You'll need to go to the stream near the start of the route and feed it a Gourmet Treat. The Squirtle doesn't appear until you talk to its trainer.

-First, you'll need to purchase the Tiny Key from one of the credits shops. A shining gravestone in the Weeping Depths will mention three graves, one of which has treasure. IIRC, it's in Arkha's grave, which is on the right side of the room. The Tiny Key takes you to a room with a Gastly.

-After beating Aderyn, a blocked passage will become unblocked a little east of the entrance to the big room. You'll need the doll from one of the ranger quests. Read the tablet, run around the stone structure all the way back to the tablet, then the door to the piece will open.

-Where the rangers are settled (with the base that actually opens) there's a NPC who wants to upload memes but doesn't have wifi. Go to the peak of Silver Rise where the house is. Inside, interact with the computer, and then go back to him. There's also a Trapinch in the house. In order to get the key for the house you'll need to find all three diary pages in Shade Forest and bring them to the diary in Shiv's old house.

-The man at the stall is looking for a link cable. In Addenfall Town, there's a man in a house with the same sprite also looking for one, so tell him about the other man. Then go back, fight a Black Fox, and they'll give you a Link Stone.

-In the outskirts, there's a woman who asks you to deliver a message that "The dawn of tomorrow will be black". The person you need to deliver this message to is in a house at the southest part of Blackview. Then go back to the woman.

-I forget exactly where but on the west side of the city is a house with a locked door inside it (there's a guy with a bandana standing near the house). The keys are at Silver Rise (a cave just below the peak) and underneath the stairs at the ice pyramid at Shade Forest which you'll need to interact with crystals to get to (there's also a level 45 Froslass down there). Behind the locked door is a piece.
