Dear Organizers,

Compared to the previous challenge, we were unable to fully decode all video sequences on the video track due to the GPU resources provided this time.
We have checked the logs and found that using current GPU resources, the decoding time for one frame is nearly 1 minute. But in the previous challenge, it only took a few seconds to decode one frame. In the previous competition, we were able to decode all video sequences in less than 5 hours, but this time it timed out. And limited by the size of 12GB memory, it is also not possible to solve this problem by using multithreading.
I earnestly request a further extension of the decoding time limit to 60 hours.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Yanchen

Hi Yanchen,

I have not talked to the other organizers but given the imminent deadline, I assume we won't extend the decoding time again to be fair to other participants.

Other considerations for limiting and reducing the available resources over time are 1) to push neural compression towards more practical codecs and 2) reducing the costs of running the challenge.
