Issue with large imports

We have seen an issue caused by imports with a large number of separate notes. Google Drive is slowing down inserts for new notes to a rate of approximately one note every two seconds. This would normally be OK, (slow, but OK) except for very large numbers of notes which was causing a timeout in the Google backend. We've reconfigured the timeout so this problem should not recurr, and are working on ways to speed up the Drive insert process.
