This is great to see the beta2 now out.
Unfortunately you have bugs/usability issues to solve.

The mynotes page renders badly for me in Firefox v23. Fortunately it worked in chrome.

From the tiles of notes, how do I open one of those notes into the editor? I can only open notes that way from the left sidebar.

The quick notes filter shows the titles of "other notes" (formatted notes?) but select one and nothing happens.
So I cannot use this to search all notes, and it is not clear whether a note is a quick note or not.
The filter also returns some notes that do not contain the keyword.
The search on the left only searches titles, is that correct?

I have notes appearing in the tiles view with the text missing, and I have others that are showing the html.

I think this idea is really neat, so really wanted to try it out. But I think you have a way to go, you must get the basics right for me to use it.

Cheers,
Paul.

Hi Paul

Thanks for the feedback, and totally agree with the point that we have a lot of ground still to cover. The Catch thing somewhat forced our hand, so we're trying to balance the urgency with our existing schedule which was has been aiming at September.

The screenshot doesn't show up in Groups, would it be possible to email it to sup...@clevernote.co

The principle of quick notes is that they are edited in situ. So just overtype the title or content and it is saved in real time. This is different from formatted notes (we need a better name) which open in a rich text editor.

We need to get some explanatory text for quick notes v. formatted notes into the site. Quick notes are analogous to Keep or Catch type notes. So the emphasis is minimum keystrokes to get you into your notes and presenting a visual overview. Formatted notes are intended to be more at the Evernote level, allowing more substantive notes. Having said that, there is some overlap between the two, so for example, opening a note from the sidebar will open it in the editor. Our plan is to give users more tools to clearly designate notes as being one type or another. For the Catch import, we took a decision to import all Catch notes as quick notes, since that seemed a better fit than bringing them in as formatted notes. We're not Catch users, so we may have got that wrong. Let me know your thoughts and we might add an option at import time. As an interim you can bypass this logic by editing the notes.enex file and replacing application="Catch" with application="foo". We would import such a file with a formatted note for each Catch note.

The quick notes filter shows the titles of "other notes" (formatted notes?) but select one and nothing happens.
That's a bug. Noted. The filter typeahead should only show titles from quick notes. The search box in the upper left is for searching all notes (quick and formatted)

So I cannot use this to search all notes, and it is not clear whether a note is a quick note or not.

The filter also returns some notes that do not contain the keyword.
It's possibly matching on terms that are present in our metadata. If you could let me have some of the matches you're seeing, I'll get it looked into.

The search on the left only searches titles, is that correct?
The typeahead/dropdown aspect is searching titles. However, hitting ESC to dismiss the dropdown and then pressing Enter will do a full text search (using the same search as would be run in Google Drive).

I have notes appearing in the tiles view with the text missing,
Is there any distinguishing characteristic of the blank notes? If you find the note in the sidebar and then click to open it in the editor, is it still blank?

and I have others that are showing the html.
This is a bug we're looking at. It partly comes back to the distinction between a quick note and a formatted note. At one point we prevented quick notes from ever being formatted. We relaxed that restriction, but are still considering the best way to deal with the resulting HTML.

Thanks again for the feedback. We'll get there :-)

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, that clarifies a few things.

The blank note was a quick note but I edited it to include a tick box (task), then the text did not show up on the tiles.

Sorry, I do not know how to send you the note + metadata with bad filter match. But I have sent you the firefox image.

Cheers,

Thanks again.

Once again, it's the quicknote v. formatted note thing.
Supporting 2-way binding between notes and tasks is non-trivial, so is kinda reserved for formatted notes right now.
