Clever
Knitters,
Have you ever dreamed of becoming a famous knitwear designer? Or do
you simply want to knit a sweater and
be confident that it will fit whether you’re using a commercial pattern
or designing your own. Have you seen Shirley Paden's new
book, KNITWEAR DESIGN WORKSHOP: A Comprehensive Guide to Handknits?
It's like a graduate school course in design. A master's level
workshop.
But Shirley wasn't born a brilliant
designer. Eighteen years ago she taught herself design and one of her
most important resources was Cheryl Brunette's Sweater 101. Here's
what Shirley recently wrote to Cheryl:
"I cannot tell you how much your little book and formula contributed to my
understanding of designing hand knits. The formula opened a whole new
world for me in terms of being able to more accurately plan my designs.
Because I am completely self taught, I have purchased and carefully
studied many books over the years. Yours was a real treasure in a
simple package. Many of us owe you a huge Thank You for your contribution to
advancing the craft...
I am so glad to hear that
you decided to put Sweater 101 back in print. I am sure that
many new designers will find it as helpful as I did...
The formula that
I found in your little book changed my professional life! The book
itself is a wonderful design review in an easy to follow format."
You may not recognize Cheryl Brunette's name
because she retired from the knitting world almost 20 years ago, long
before the internet, but she taught many of the people who are teaching
now. She's "Oldie but Goodie," on Ravelry and people who have been
around a long time know her work.
When
Meg Swansen (Elizabeth Zimmerman's daughter) heard that Cheryl was
bringing back Sweater 101 she said,
"I had no idea your wonderful book was coming
back . . . Hooray! Don't think I've given a workshop in the last 15
years without mentioning you and it."
There are only a couple of seats left so call today and reserve
one of them! This could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take a
giant step toward becoming an empowered sweater-maker, able to adapt any
pattern to any size or yarn and able to create your own patterns at
will. It's simple once you know the smart way to do it.
If you can't make the full workshop and want a fun evening with
the magic math trick that "changed [Shirley Paden's] professional
life!" join us from 6-8pm that evening (June 19) for Knitting, S.E.X.,
Chocolate and a Couple of Math Skills. Click here for details. Warm (& sweatery) regards,
