Silly me, I didn't count Thursdays on the calendar correctly. I dont'
start teaching until next week, so this Thursday is excellent for me.
I'll be there at 9:30.

Hey, people who are comign -- if you have a small bag of brightly
coloured fabric scraps you'd be willin to donate, I'd be most
appreciative. My scrap collection isn't very big, and I need some for
one of the classes, and I don't want to buy new fabric for the
purpose. I'll trade you some felting wool for scrap fabric, if that's
a trade you'd like to make.

Cheers,
Kirsten

I will bring along some of my scraps. If you take them off my hands, that will be favour enough.

I've had this thought about 20 times in the last week, which seems to
be a sign that I need to take action: if I (re) learned to knit, I
would have something interesting and portable and productive to do
with my hands in those frequent but short moments that they are free
during the day.

So in one of the upcoming meetings, would anyone be willing to teach
me? I'd be happy to trade for another skill set from my costume design
repertoire (not knowing yet what everyone does...draping and
patterning, anyone?)

I'd be thrilled to teach you to knit. Ask anyone - it's hard to get me
to NOT teach someone to knit. You would have to repeatedly say "no, I
refuse, I will not learn, please leave me alone" to get me to stop. I
believe the way Amber phrased it was "Look, I need another craft like
I need a hole in the head."

You'll notice that Amber knows how to knit, now. She didn't say it often enough.

It's true. Kirsten LOVES to teach people to knit. But I also wish I'd said yes much sooner. :)

Well that's the mind-control serum they dope the wool with.

Hi Jeni,

Sounds like you'll have lots of people who know how to knit and would
love to show you. Me included.:-)

I'd love to learn how to learn draping and patterning though. I've
taken a few sewing courses, including a pattern making one from a lady
who used to work in a Parisian fashion house, but that was over 10
years ago and I've forgoten all but the basics. I'd love a refresher
course! :-))))

Who has 2 girls, 5 and 3 yo, and who hasn't been able to make it to a
meeting yet...sigh...

Admittedly I looked at Kirsten's wooly website and had ensuing and
fuzzy thoughts of "mmm...yarn...so pretty..." Perhaps the hypnotic dye
fumes came through my computer.

I'd be happy to give you a draping refresher, Ellaine. Maybe I can
source a second-hand dress form. I want one
anyways. Otherwise I'll just ask one of
the toddlers to hold still and we'll work
quickly :)

Thanks, ladies.

I'd love to get in on a draping learning session, and my kids get along well
with Ellaine's (hi Ellaine!). Possibly (not likely, but possibly) they will
play long enough to let us learn something, if we don't make them be the
dress forms. Luckily, I have a dress form ;>

- Kirstie (who also has a 5 year old and a 3 year old, and also has not yet
made it to a session. Hmmm. Co-incidence?)

Well triple darn!  I'd love to learn some new sewing skills, and X would love to play with E and S before we head off to WI for the week, but I've got to pack and we've got the baby sitter setup to come.  Hopefully I can adjust our sitting schedule to get Thurs mornings back eventually!

Consider me another available knitting tutor - I taught a bucket load of co-workers and started a knitting group at work... way back when!  Would love to trade for some serger skills as I'm afraid of mine...

:)

(Hey Ellaine, let's try to meet up after the 3rd - X would love to play with the girls and I can fill you in about Alaska.  After this trip we should be around except for the odd weekend away....)
