Here is an idea from a fellow IRF. She really liked the elecrical tape, as it didn't age like labels......
I had a library where I used different colored electrical tape at the bottom edge of the binding. Each color was a genre. Then I had a posted guide that students could refer to.
Colored electrical tape sticks well, can be written on (perm marker) and does not get all dried out like masking tape over time.
A combination of colors for genre and baskets for other things like topics or authors, etc. worked well. You could do a second tape color that was just language or write "s" on the tape for Spanish.
The level can be written on the tape as well.
