Hello fellow devotees of the round board!
I got a couple of hopefully valuable lessons from our Holiday Classic tournament:
During a break in the morning round-robin, I chatted with Jeremy Tracey for a moment. He asked how I was doing. I told him that there were 2 games (I think in the same round) where all I had to do was make contact on my last shot and I missed. He asked if I had made any good shots. I couldn't think of any to tell him. He then told me I need "a memory like a goldfish". Goldfish forget everything ten seconds after it happens. In other words, don't let the memory of bad shots change your game.
While watching the video of Zach's third-place match against Jeremy, I was struck by how relaxed Zach looked. I don't think I would have been at all relaxed during that match. I know I tend to become tense in tournament matches, and that affects how well I play. I need to figure out how to relax and keep in mind that I play Crokinole because it's fun!
