I’ve started planning our annual Holiday Singles Tournament to be held on Saturday 12/13/25. It’s not yet confirmed, but I’m hoping to hold it at Schnitz Ale Brewery in the upstairs event space where we regularly meet, and to include catered lunch. I expect to know whether that will work out and have necessary details within a week or so. I’m planning the tournament with a cap of 40 competitors.
So with that said, the purpose of this email is to ask for some help with organizing and running the tournament. If you don’t plan to compete or know someone who doesn’t play but would like to help, that would be especially appreciated to help take some load off those who will be playing. Here are some things we’ll need help with…
- Pre-Tournament preparation & logistics
- NCA Tier III Tournament registration
- Score sheets
- Awards
- Promotional stuff
- Coordination with the venue
- Tournament day
- Setup of tables/chairs for tournament configuration
- Leveling tables
- Competitor reception and registration
- Managing skills side competitions (making change, explanation, acknowledging winners, etc.)
- Time Keeping
- Scoresheet management
- Officiating (in/out and on the line calls)
- Compiling scores & seeding playoffs
- Taking video of selected matches - especially championship and 3rd place matches
- Running a single-elimination consolation bracket
- End of day cleanup - moving furniture back where it came from
- Post-Tournament
- Posting results to social media
- Forwarding video as needed for editing, narration, posting
- Forwarding results for NCA points and other rankings
