Hi All,
I hope you’re keeping cool in this crazy heat.
This is your reminder that we’ll have league and casual play at Schnitz Ale Brewery tomorrow evening - Monday 6/23/25.
I’ve attached the schedule and standings document for your reference. Everyone but me has at least one match to make up tomorrow. If it’s agreeable to everyone, I think we should call tomorrow the last league night for this “season” rather than drag it out any longer. We can use the standings after tomorrow to declare a league champ, or we could use the league standings to seed some sort of mini playoff round for that. We’ll see what everyone thinks tomorrow.
I think we can take some time off from league play and just do casual play for a month or two. That said, I’d like some input on what you’d like to do next in terms of organized play. We could try a different league format like St. Jacobs Doubles, or an unscheduled league of some sort - or we could try a straight doubles league and use our league rankings to help seed “balanced” doubles pairs. We could even do a series of monthly one-evening mini-tournaments. I’m open for whatever draws the most interest.
A few other things to think about…
- Is anyone interested in going to the Turtle Island Singles tournament near Buffalo NY on Saturday August 2nd? There are both competitive and recreational divisions. I’m likely to go if anyone would like to ride along.
- August 20th (8/20) has become sort of the official/unofficial “international Crokinole Day” (8 discs, shoot for 20s…). It’s a Wednesday this year, but I’m thinking we might do something at Schnitz Ale to observe this important holiday - maybe a board or two downstairs to demonstrate the game and offer passersby to learn to play. I’ll check with the brewery to see if they’re open to something like that.
- Progress is slow on getting a Mid America Circuit going - but interest is still there so stay tuned for more information.
- I’m setting Saturday December 13th as the tentative date for our annual Holiday Singles Tournament. Let me know if you're interested in helping to organize or run the tournament.
I hope to see you all tomorrow!
