Hi All,

Just a reminder, our monthly scheduled meeting will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, June 11th at 5:30PM (pizza and drinks) with the discussion beginning at 6:00PM (see map for meeting location: http://www.clevelandjava.org/map.html).

The agenda:
  • Eat, Drink, Network (5:30-6:00 PM)
  • May Meeting Recap (6:00-6:15 PM)
  • Java 6 Update 10 Overview
Abstract:

The Java 6u10 platform (formerly known as the Consumer JRE release) is an upcoming release of the Java 6 platform that introduces a host of new features to make deploying Java technology easier, faster, and better. In this session, you'll learn about the following:

  • The modular Kernel Java Runtime Environment (JRE) software, which enables smaller JRE downloads
  • Deployment Toolkit, a suite of technologies for detecting and installing JRE implementations
  • Patch in Place, for faster and smaller JRE software updates
  • Java QuickStart Service, which reduces JRE software startup time
  • Improved graphics performance under Windows
  • The Nimbus pluggable look-and-feel

The presentation covers these features and how they work, and how you can use them to improve your software's user experience.

Hope to see you there!

Scott
