According to Wikipedia and the Android website, Android is a software
stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware
and key applications running on the Linux kernel. Initially developed
by Android Inc. (later purchased by Google, and lately by the Open
Handset Alliance), it allows developers to write managed code in the
Java language, controlling the device via Google-developed Java
libraries.

Android was built from the ground-up to enable developers to create
compelling mobile applications that take full advantage of all a
handset has to offer.

In this session, we will discuss the key components of the Android
stack, review the available tools, walk through some application code,
discuss the Android Market and demonstrate some applications.

The meeting begins at 5:30PM (food, drink, networking) followed by the
discussion at 6:00PM.

Hope to see you there!
