My Dear brothers and Sisters,
Words fail me to express my sadness as I am informing you that we have tragically lost our Dear Priest and Wife. Fr. Clement Mwamasi and wife are no more with us.

They were involved in an accident on their way to Zomba as within the Karonga area. Fr. Clement died on spot and the wife while at the hospital. Details are not yet know.

Dear All,

I am short words to describe the event that has just befallen us. I know it is devastating and shocking to you all as we are. An even darker cloud hovers over the Diocese of Northern Malawi, the Mwamasi family and the Parish of St. Ambrose, with the devastating news of the death of Fr. Clement Mwamasi, the only son of late Fr.John Mwamasi  and his wife whom I have just confirmed this sad news a couple of hours ago. As you are all aware, Fr. Clement Mwamasi stayed at home with his family after the burial his father Fr. John Mwamasi last Saturday. His father also died a sudden due to HBP. This morning as I was saying Mass at St. Ambrose I saw a white minibus come close to the church. Fr. Clement came out to bid farewell to some members and deliver a letter to one of the members Mr. Manda and in no time off they went. This was about 9:30am. At about 3pm roomers started reaching us that a minibus suspected to be the one in which Fr. Clement and his family were travelling was involved in a terrible accident near Hara on its way to Mzuzu. We rushed to the hospital and the first group of survivors of the accident arrived among them his sister Mather about 16 clearly shocked suffered major injury in both legs and sustained other minor injuries. She was able to speak.  Fr. Clément’s only daughter about three was also in shock but in a more stable condition and she is discharged. His wife was in a very critical condition and shortly doctors failed to save her life and passed away soon after arrival at the Hospital. We were told that almost three people died on the spot. Hence we feared for the worst. Indeed when the bodies arrived at the hospital we confirmed Fr. Clelment Mwamasi was among those who died on the scene of the accident.  The sad news has been communicated to the family. The shock to all of us especially the bereaved family who are still in the moaning period cannot be described. Indeed a very dark cloud covers our Diocese. This indescribable misfortunate has made all of us confused.
I last spoke to Fr. Clement last friday when I revisited the family. Arrangements will be communicated in due course.

Let us all pray for the souls of our beloved whom we shall all miss, the bereaved family and quick recovery for the survivors. May all the souls rest in eternal peace.

Thank you so much for the narrative report about our brother.
Is i possible to ask the family to conduct the service on Wednesday in order for the people from ACM and LKTC and other Dioceses to be available. Its a shock that has confused every one.

I don't expect the family to resist to the suggestion. I will talk to them first thing in the morning. But I will also have to contact the hospital people if this is okey with them. We have requested for the bodied to be embalmed as we wait for the confirmation of the programme. If anything come up to the contrary of the Wednesday date I will let you know.

I have talked to one of the close members of the family about the suggestion to conduct the burial ceremony on Wednesday. They agree. But their immediate reaction was they are worried if the family of the wife whether they are aware of this calamity. They are requesting if the family could be informed as soon as possible.

Should we take this responsibility now I think it is important to do this. For we are not sure if they know any thing. Let m work on that.

It seems that Fr. Clement did not bring his vestments therefore, I requesting either from the diocese or from Zomba Theological collage to bring vestments for Fr. Clement and MU uniform for Mrs. Mwamasi.
