My Fathers in The Lord,
Greetings from Mzuzu.
I would like to report that I am back in the country after a time a way for my studies and also developing our friendship with different partners. We managed to strengthen the old and also develop new partners in the vine yard. We are just looking forward to what this will mean for us as days pass by.
1. Clergy Transport
Of late we have seen a paradigm shift on how to consider the issues of transport. When we had a dramatic experience to hand over the Bishops car to the Archdeacon of Karonga I did not know that we are setting a precedence that we should now be focusing on car transport than motor cycle.
As of now we are moving out slowly from motor cycle to these Japanese used small cars. As such when the people of St. Barnabas in the US. raised money to buy a motor cycle to Fr. Kamenya knowing that now we are changing from that I asked them to consider supporting in buying a car. They graciously allowed me to look for a car that was at the same price like how much they raised. Although they added some more because of duty an registrations. We got a Toyota Passo which is good in terms of tires sizes and fuel as the engine is small.
Of course I know what some of you have said as regard towards this. Although it is rather discouraging I know that every journey begin with one step. We have to move on and we can move by one step. As we move it does not mean that we can do all that at once but we have to move one step at a time and the next step so on and so forth. It is also not because of favouritism or nepotism because I have no body to favour after all if I wanted to favour I would have favoured Fr. Chifunda and Fr. Damba who I know for being the people who nominated me in the elective Assembly.
I believe that what God ordained for each one of us no one can stop it. It's about God's providence and we should have been the one to understand this better than creating stories that has no truth. Perception is dangerous and destructive than reality. I am not discouraged but I am writing to help you so that you don't enter into temptation and sin. Whenever chance comes we will do the same to anyone God has blessed. All of us can not be blessed in the same way at the same time. We need to know that there is no such a word as fairness. Even God does not do that for instance Esau he hated and Jacob he loved but life has to move on.
Some of you are also blessed in a different way. I know that some of you gets money from different people is the US and even from your centurion partners while others don't. Very strength that some of you who also receive in different ways are in the forefront saying things against others who have received openly.
2. Scholarship
This too is another issue that is causing some not to sleep. We need degrees in as best as we can. We need to develop our capacity to the best we can. I have put it open that we will try to make this happen. But the question is can all of us go to school at once and close the Parishes. Do we have money to have that done. Again I believe that we have to move one step at a time. You all know the line of orders according to our ordination. Of course at some point something will happen depending on the gifts that God has given us. The academic and specialized training are different. The fact that Fr. Kamenya has walked this way does not mean that he is favoured but he has been trained as an Evangelist. As an evangelist he is also doing the same in the US. This has nothing to be with academic training but specialized training. When he comes back he will be doing Alpha Course to our members through out the Diocese in Discipleship. This is in line with our covenant with the Diocese of Fort Worth.
3. Ordination
We have done an ordination to Priesthood of our deacon Fr. Christopher Isaiah Mnkhwamba who is now a Priest to continue his ministry at Nkhata Bay until such a time when we will move him to another parish. It does not matter about how long that will be like. It can be one month or so.
4. Transfers and Appointments
We have made some transfers and some appointments to advance the Kingdom of God as follows.
a). Canon Hannock Ng'oma
He will be doing his studies at Mzuzu University for the next two years. Until that time he remain just a student to help him put all his energy in his studies.
b). Fr. Andrew Manda
Who is currently Bishop's Chaplain will be the Archdeacon of Nkhata Bay where he will move within the period of 3 months. This will help to facilitate the transition on both giving the Parish a chance for farewell and order as well as also the Diocesan office to work on the same.
c). Fr. Arthur Chitowe
He has been appointed as the Archdeacon of Mzimba and he will continue to be at his own place.
d). Fr. Chifunda Phiri
He will be heading to St. Mark's Nkhwazi to replace Ven. Binga so that he can learn to be Glassop weniweni.
Every one remain where they are.
5. Ordination.
We shall have an ordination of our two ordinands on the 9th November if they qualify for the same orders.
6. Clergy Conference.
The chaplain has already written this at length. I would like just to let you know that this will be facilitated by our brothers from South Africa the Diocese of Johansburge. The Bishop will also lead a mission to Chizumulu Island and preach on the ordination occasion. We thought we would come back on the same day of the 9th but it will not be possible as we know Likoma when such chindimba is planned. We will therefore come back on the 10th but if it will be by a speed boat then everything will be in place we can arrive in the morning and begin the conference after lunch.
It's almost a book I should end here some of the issues will be resolved some time in future. If you have questions please don't hesitate to write back.
