That's right, we are ramping up for another exciting spring season!
Our A team and B team are both going to be swaggerlicious this year!
I want to dedicate a few words to three different groups of people.
Group One: The Faders:
You love ultimate- and fall league was awesome. You were super psyched
the first few weeks, and thought the ultimate team might be your new
'thing.'
But school is hard work, especially for someone with your (academic/
girlfriend/ medical/ subtance abuse) problems. So you attended fewer
and fewer practices, and finally stopped altogether.
But this is a new semester, and maybe, just maybe, your life is less
busy now! However, you feel a little bit awkward coming back because
you think you will never catch up. And maybe the team doesn't want you
back, anyways.
Our answer:
Listen- we want you back, we will get you up to speed, and you will
have a freaking awesome time! Lots of people get busy and have to
prioritize other things over ultimate- handle the rough patches, work
your butt off, and come back to the team!
Group Two: The Best Buds
You played club this fall and enjoyed it. You got pretty good.
Suddenly, you are the best person on your hall's IM team and kicking
butt on Bowman. One (or more) of your friends might want to play fall
league next year with you, to see if he likes it.
Our answer:
Why wait until the fall?! Ultimate is happening right now! New players
are welcome to join! True, the A Team roster is filling up, so he
probably won't get promoted this spring unless his last name is
Watkins or Allen, but who cares! Numerous guys have joined in January
and made the A team the following semester! And these new club players
(I think) don't count against your IM roster max.
Group Three: The Awkwardly Scheduled
You have a Monday night bible study, or a Wednesday night lab, or have
to work on most weekends. Since you can't give 100% of your time, you
figure it's best to drop ultimate altogether.
Our answer:
If you give 100% of your effort when you are able to play, we want you
to come when you can come. It's a loop: More (and better) players at
practice more often means better competition (and more exciting
games), which leads to more (and better) players at the next
practice.
In conclusion, I want to have a huge turnout for our January practices
this year (and for the rest of the spring). The B team is going to
have a coach for the first time EVER this year, and we have an
exciting A/B exchange program too. See all of you very soon!
