Hi

I have run the rescan library several times but it makes no difference,
is there a database file I need to delete to force it to scan the entire
collection (approx 25,000 mp3 files).

Clmentine is V 1.4 RC1 that comes with Mint Una, QT is 5.12.8 and I am
using the XFCE desktop

Can you please advise

Regards

Tim

Maybe try to see if the issue happens with other players or versions? I have a far larger collection (~100,000 tracks) and I do not have any issues with Clementine detecting all the MP3s.

What could be, but may be strange, is that maybe there could be some issues with the names of folders? Maybe their are missing the extension? Sometimes Clementine does not add files based on its extension, even if they are valid audio file.

Also, maybe you can try Clementine in windows and see if the issue continues? (I use it on windows and had not issues with it)

Most likely the files are there, but are hiding in the library
Clementine expects Artist>album>file to be the structure of your library
Click on the wrench next to the search box & change the way the library displays
Check the various artists folder, anything with confused meta data can end up there
Click the files tab on the left & see if the missing files are in the library
Confirm your music library folder is set correctly

I, too, have been having trouble with my library take-on. Most of my files have turned up in "Unknown". I took one of my artists, Glenn Miller, and created sub-directories, BLUEBIRD, DECCA, and so on, and moved the misic files accordingly, but they still turn up as Unknown, but they are listed under Title => filename, Album=>BLUEBIRD, and the Artist field is still blank.

I attach a screenshot showing my situation, and would appreciate any advice.Screenshot from 2022-06-28 12-17-31.png

High light all the songs of an album, right click>edit track information>edit tags
You will be able to see what kind of metadata is missing
The Music brainz complete tag automatically utility may solve some of the issues
What operating system are you using?
