Cleveland Flex User Group members,

Brian Meloche here... I run the local ColdFusion group in town, if
you've never made any of our joint meetings, and since it hasn't been
announced to the Flex group yet, I thought I'd better go ahead and do
it, since it's only two weeks away.

We're doing another joint meeting, but this ain't your regular joint
meeting!!! Along with our two groups, we're teaming up with the Adobe
User Group and the InDesign User Group for something big!

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at 6:00 p.m.
for...YES... THAT'S RIGHT!!! The Flex and ColdFusion user group tours
are coming to Cleveland!!! AND... ON THE SAME NIGHT!!!

Join us as Adam Lehman, Product Manager for both ColdFusion and Bolt
(Adobe's new CF IDE) will present to the Adobe User Groups!

Adam's presentation will include the following:

Flex 4 / Flash Catalyst UG Tour

Come learn about the newest features in the Flex 4 framework, Flash
Builder 4 (yeah... they changed the name of Flex Builder to Flash
Builder) and the newest Adobe tool - Flash Catalyst. See product
feature demos, and learn how the new Flex framework powers both Flash
Catalyst and Flash Builder to speed the development and testing of
rich Internet applications and content. You probably already know, but
both Flash Catalyst and Flash Builder's betas have now gone public.
Get them here:

Adobe ColdFusion UG Tour

The Adobe ColdFusion team is hitting the road to discuss Centaur, the
code name for the next version of ColdFusion, and Bolt, the code name
for the highly anticipated first ColdFusion IDE from Adobe. Learn
about exciting new features and discover how Centaur and Bolt will
accelerate your ColdFusion application development. Their public
betas are coming soon.

This is a once in a lifetime presentation to witness as Adobe gives
you a glimpse of the next levels of web development and interactive
development. This is definitely a can't miss event.

The meeting will be held at the offices of Dealer Tire, LLC, located at:

3711 Chester Avenue
Cleveland, OH 44114

Dealer Tire's conveniently located near downtown, and close to the
Chester/I-90 interchange. Those of you who made our meeting last year
when Flex 3 was coming out may remember where it is. We're there
again, but we'll be in a bigger conference room for this big event.

The Cavs are out of the playoffs, the Indians are in last place, so,
what else do you have to lose? Come out and join the fun, and get to
see the latest from Adobe!

You MUST RSVP for this event as seating is limited. If your name is
not on the RSVP list, you won't be guaranteed a seat.

If you are reading this from Google groups, you are a member of the
Flex group, but non-members are strongly... and I do mean STRONGLY...
encouraged before you RSVP to become a member of either the Cleveland
CFUG, Cleveland Adobe User Group or the Cleveland Flex User Group:

http://www.clevelandcfug.org
http://www.clevelandmmug.org
http://www.clevelandflex.com - http://groups.google.com/group/clefug to sign up

The reason: We've got some giveaways that are only going to be
available to our members.

The other reason: The more people you bring, the better! The more
people YOU can bring, you as in you personally, can entice to come...
well, we haven't let the cat out of the bag yet as to why yet, but
let's just say you are strongly encouraged to have your friends become
a user group member. We're about to give you a big reason to do so.

Bring all your friends from work to check out the latest and greatest
from Adobe! You don't want to be left in the dark this time around!
Lots of surprises in store for all attendees.

More detailed information can be found on the CFUG website as it
becomes available, in the next few days.

Forward this email on to anyone you think might be interested in
attending! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me
off list - brianmeloche at gmail dot com.

Brian and JD,

Was it ever decided about how the extra money would be spent? Are there
going to be things given away to some of the people attending - like
t-shirts, or whatever? It would really help to know that.

I put together that flyer and did manage to distribute about 16 copies.
They went to Tri-C Eastern Campus, Tri-C Metro Campus, Cleveland State
University, and Lockheed-Martin (in Akron). I'm still going to try to keep
distributing more of them. I've attached a copy of it. I also highlighted
the date on it to make it stand out.

Yes, we have software to draw. If the Flex group hasn't given away its semi-annual software for the first half of this year, we'll add that to the same from the CFUG and AUG, and that would make us four copies of software (3 + 1 other title, we're hoping). In addition, we have ColdFusion posters to giveaway, shirts, and several other swag items.  The software is any single title within in the Adobe catalog with a purchase value not exceeding $2100, although to claim it, you must put in your selection before June 30th (so Flash Builder, Flash Catalyst and the new ColdFusion server and IDE are not in the mix for this). Still, that's a lot of great big ticket prizes and a good chance to win something substantial.

When people sign in at the door, they will be asked "Who got you to come?" The person whose name appears the most, who is a member of at least one of our groups, and that person is not a user group manager or co-manager, wins one of the copies. The people you bring are eligible for the second drawing, along with you.  You ARE allowed to put your own name down if you came on your own.

There is more, but that's all I can say on this Google group right now.

Sincerely,

Sorry, Flex group members, I wanted to clarify.

We'll have somewhere between 2-4 software giveaways at this meeting, depending on whether a few things I've been working on.

The first software giveaway goes to the person (non user group manager or co-manager) that has brought the most attendees.

If we have more than two giveaways (which I am pretty sure is the case), the second giveaway will be open to user group members only, to people that brought other people to the meeting, and the people that listed them (or themselves).

If there's a third and fourth, those will be open to any attendee.

You have to be present to win at the time of the draw (you have to stay until the end). No exceptions. You can't give tickets to your buddy, either, after you leave.

Sincerely,

I was planning to give away a copy of Flexbuilder 3 and a copy of "choice of Adobe software" (except for master collection from the Flex UG.
