Niamh Parsons and Graham Dunne have
been playing in duet for the past nine years. Niamh is one of the best known
and most distinctive voices in Irish Music; she was described in the Boston Herald as “emotionally haunting
and tonally as clear as crystal”. Niamh has recorded six studio albums and one
live album to date, and has said she views herself as the vehicle for the
music: “For me the song is more important than listening to my voice… I
consider myself more a songstress than a singer – a carrier of tradition.”
Graham Dunne is a well-known guitarist in the Irish Traditional Music scene. He
has accompanied such musical legends as Liz Carroll, Paddy Keenan and Tommy
Peoples. He was on tour for a year with Sean Tyrell, and worked on the music
for a documentary entitled Necklace of Wrens – a biographical account of
the poet Michael Hartnett. Now based in Ennis, Graham works as a full time
guitarist with Niamh Parsons and featured on her last four albums. His first
solo CD, GIOTÁRAÍ, was released in 2004.
