Hi,

I would like to contribute to ClearTk. However, when sending an email to cleartk-d...@googlegroups.com, I get "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" since I do not have permission to post messages to the group. Could anyone guide me how I should proceed.

Thanks,
Majid

Hi Majid,

Thanks for your interest in contributing to ClearTK.  In what way would you like to contribute?

In the past we have added members to cleartk-developers after they have been active in the users group first or after they have submitted some patches so that we can review the work and get a sense of coding style, etc.

Perhaps you can talk more about your interests?

Hi Lee,

As a background to myself, I was using GATE for several years, but know I found ClearTk more flexible, specially in the context of NLP and machine learning based application. So, for my next project, which is CoNLL Shared Task 2015, I have adopted the ClearTK framework.
I would like to contribute in two different ways:
1- I would like to commit the codes that I developed for the shared task (after the competition).
2- Complete some components in ClearTk. For example, I guess the cleartk-ml-weka component is not complete (I have not completely read the codes yet). Another example is I find out it would be very useful to have all features in org.cleartk.feature.syntax as Context too (in the context of CleartkExtractor).

Anyway, I completely understand your concern, and I can wait for a while. Maybe it is better to submit a patch before requesting to be a contributor.

Thanks,
Majid

Yes, this is usually the best path. Particularly if you can pick out
some bits of your code that would be most likely to be useful for
others and submit individual patches for those.

Hi Majid,

Apologies for the delayed response.  Thank you for your interest in ClearTK.  I'm glad you find ClearTK useful enough to consider contributing to it and I hope you breath some new life into the project.

Regards,
Philip
