Yesterday my manager was unable to bring up the ClearTK project page from his browser.  It was asking him to log in - which I had never seen before.  I sat down this morning to do some work on the project and noticed this at the top of the page:

I'm not sure what this is about and am not seeing any kind of notice on the project page or in my email.  I will investigate.  If you have any thoughts about what might be happening, then please let me know.

Thanks,
Philip

Hi Philip,

no idea what this is about, but I also see the notice when I call up the ClearTK page.

This is really strange.  I see the notice as well.  In doing some searches for violation of Google Code TOS, the main culprits are usually using software we do not have the rights to or hosting some sort of malware, but I couldn't find anything concrete pertaining to ClearTK.  With Google Adwords, they usually let you know your site has been compromised and that is why they are disabling service.  At the very least, I would like an e-mail to the project owners indicating that this project has been flagged.

I posted a question to this list: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/google-code-hosting

because it seemed that there were a number of cases where a google code engineer resolved this exact issue.  I will keep you posted!

Still no response from Google Code forum.  I posted another email this evening:

Can someone please tell me why ClearTK has the notice Scheduled for deletion due to Violation of TOS?  This is a very embarrassing circumstance for us as we have many users.  We have not received any notification as to why our project is not in good standing and we are eager to remedy the situation if possible.  We have enjoyed using the Google Code project hosting service and would like to continue doing so if possible.  But finding out that our project is scheduled for deletion without any additional information and no response is extremely disheartening.  Please advise as soon as possible.

Thank you,
Philip

Hopefully, the post will be approved and someone will reply.

I'm not seeing your post to that list. Is it being held in moderation?

Yes.  When I sent it there was a message that said it would be posted once it was approved.

I still haven't had any reply from the Google Code forum.  If someone else wants to try sending a message that would be great.  If you have other suggestions please, then please share.

I joined the group and reposted your original plea.  It looks like it is showing up, but let's all keep an eye out for it.

Thanks!  I didn't think to join the group - good thinking.  Looks like there's a living person who is going to help us out...

I don't see this message anymore -- has this issue been resolved?

It seems so!  I just verified that the site is available to a non-member of the project.  I assume that svn is turned back on, issues are modifiable, etc.  I will verify as soon as I can.

This is episode is really disorienting and disturbing.  I can't believe they didn't provide any information or notification when the problem was detected or resolved.  Lee, did you ever get any additional details from Google Code?

This sort of interruption of service is really unacceptable and I think we should move the project somewhere else.  It's not so unreasonable that it went down for less than two weeks after 5-6 years of uninterrupted service - but for them to give us no communication whatsoever when it happened - that is what really bothers me.

Nope.

This is really the last I saw from the engineer:

Sorry, your repository was causing some problems for us, so we had to disable it to protect the rest of the service. I'm doing some load testing today to try and identify the problem. I've reinstated your access, but I may need to disable it again if things start collapsing again.

Once I know what's going on, I'll make sure to ask. Right now I'm not sure what the problem is.

I would ask a follow up question, but I'm afraid of drawing attention and putting ourselves back in the same situation.

Out of laziness, I'm disinclined to move, but then again fool me once...
