I have come back to this many times. It is a wonderful overview. I have done many projects and this has inspired new ideas as well. It is very helpful from understanding basic animations to more complex ideas. I loved motion5 before finding ripple-training but this has helped me fall in love with it all the more.
When I installed motion a couple of weeks ago, I had no clue what the application was meant to do other than that is was a useful add-on to Final Cut Pro X. So this training took me from zero to a point where I can experiment and play around on my own in just a few lessons. Mark obviously knows what he is talking about, and he is also able to explain it in a way that is clear and easy to follow. I really enjoyed this course!
The GOLD standard in Motion training. Period. I have been learning from Mark Spencer since his earlier books on Motion. These video lessons are clear, concise, and well thought out. After taking this course I feel confident in my ability to go from concept to creation. Well done Mark.
I downloaded the training material on the blackmagicdesign website a few months ago, because I really really wanna learn Resolve in and out. I'm a beginner and I want to learn how to use Resolve on a professional level!
What I love the most about these kinds of graphics are how intimate each word on the outside makes the emotion on the inside shine. When you're working out what people are feeling inside, you need to take into account the stakes, their motivations, and what's driving them. These elements of character development help to refine tension and stakes on screen.
As always, think about your favorite movies and television shows. Think about the complexity of the desires of the characters. Usually, even if we haven't faced situations like the ones on screen, we have faced those emotions. I always go back to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when I'm trying to write about parents.
Here you start a scene with one character playing happy, and the other playing jealous. There's no real tension because the emotions never go deeper than that. Each person stays in their lane. And as Nomi moves into the next encounter she...stays happy. Okay, but lots of other things are happening that should affect how she thinks, feels, and emotes. And when she finally has to deal with an excess of jealousy, she goes right to sad. This transition is jarring. It messes with the tone of the scene and the movie.
Take this scene from Mad Men. It might be the greatest television scene of all time. It certainly ranks in the pantheon of incredible emotional and tonal shifts that completely convince the audience of the heart of every character.
Peggy storms in. She's sad. Don is frustrated. Then Don is confused and Peggy goes to anger. Then Don gets defensive, and Peggy gets frustrated. These two are dancing into each other's emotional states as this goes because then Don gets angry and finishes sad. And Peggy gets frustrated and finishes confused.

True-to-Life Action: Captivate approaching waterfowl with the lifelike feeding and ripple motion, perfectly imitating the behavior of Mallard Drakes and Hens in their natural habitat.
Through self-controlled respiration, a trained person can produce an energy manifesting as ripples throughout their body and that is identical to the energy of the Sun, in polar opposition to the energy exerted by Vampires, Zombies, and the Pillar Men.
The Ripple is an energy identical to the Sun's rays, which the human body can produce through controlled breathing, having the effect of producing ripples of energy propagating from the bloodstream to the rest of the body and other objects in contact with it. The Ripple manifests itself as electricity-like sparks, and it can be seen by ordinary humans. The Ripple can also affect non-living things. An object charged with the energy of the Ripple will have one or several attributes enhanced by the energy, making it a more effective tool or weapon. Liquids conduct the Ripple especially well (and the user's Ripple shows on liquids as actual ripples). It is mentioned by Joseph that objects covered in oil can conduct the Ripple much easier. However while all materials can conduct Ripple more or less well, inorganic material such as metal cannot store the energy, instead simply passing through these objects. Joseph was also shown to be able to channel the Ripple through his own Stand. It is unknown if a humanoid Stand like Star Platinum, belonging to his grandson Jotaro, could do the same.
Through many years of intense training using the Ripple, a master may gain a small amount of clairvoyance. For example, Master Tonpetty, the leader of the clan of Tibetan monks who train in the technique, was able to foretell the death of Will A. Zeppeli with 100% accuracy. Furthermore, Lisa Lisa was able to tell that Joseph was in danger, although that could have simply been due to their family bond as mother and son.
Merely producing a light amount of Ripple requires the user to breathe a precise way. Thus to not only enhance the ability to produce it, and efficiently wield it in battle, the Ripple User must undergo training and exercise his ability.
Ripple users undergo hyper-rigorous physical training to increase their breathing ability and thus the amount and power of the Ripple they produce. Although the training is explained as being focused on the rhythm of breathing, which will positively impact on the whole body, it doesn't stop a master from using physical exercise, like prolonged swimming, or forcing a student to stay balanced on the tip of the finger, to enhance users to be in tune with their body and mind together as one, and the naturally typical benefits of working out, being as mutually seen as further drawing out the "flow" of energy the sun gives to all life on Earth.[4] Grandmasters prior have also kept secret and passed on much older intense and lethal advanced training regimens like the Hell Climb Pillar, which puts students in a life or death situation to push them to overcome their limits as a final test of mastery over the Ripple.[5]
Those who want to fight with the Ripple also typically undergo martial arts training to acquire battle experience and fighting skills that will be enhanced by the Ripple. Will Zeppeli and Jonathan Joestar thus have trained to use the Sendō alongside the Ripple. However, other Ripple users like Joseph prefer to use tools with the Ripple, and Caesar Zeppeli has an unrefined fighting skill honed by years of delinquency.

Jake Bartlett (00:00): Hey, it's Jake Bartlett. And in this tutorial, I'm going to be taking you into premiere pro and showing you some of my favorite tools and techniques that you're probably not using, but are really going to save you a lot of time. If you don't already have one, create a student account for free at school of motion so that you can download the assets that I'll be using and follow along with me, if that's what you want to do, let's get started
Jake Bartlett (00:31): Now, if you're like a lot of motion designers, you probably dread opening up premiere being in this weird environment that doesn't really match after effects has different tools, and you don't know what a lot of them do, but it's just like any other piece of software. Once you understand what the tools do and how you can use them to your advantage. It really is a big time-saver and it's a much better piece of software for editing than after effects. So here I am in premiere, and this is the default layout that premiere is probably going to start with for you. The workspace is called editing, and honestly, this is not the way that I like to have it set up. So I'm going to clean this up. And in fact, I even just have my own workspace right here. I'm going to click on, but just want to point out that down here, there's a lot of stuff that I don't even need, like the libraries or info, um, the effects I do need, but markers, you know, a lot of these panels are unnecessary for what I'm doing.
